What barriers are holding you back from getting started with your fitness ๐Ÿ‹๏ธโ€โ™‚๏ธ?

Once we get started it is often much easier to keep going with our fitness. But getting started can be such a challenge. So let's look at how we can remove barriers.

Tip #1 - When starting out make it so easy you can't say no to โ˜‘๏ธ Rome wasn't built in a day and neither are your fitness levels. So instead of starting out too ambitious, start small and make it easy. Maybe you want to get stronger and improve muscle tone. Instead of starting with a 6 day gym schedule lasting 60 minutes per time why not start with a simple habit of performing 10 squats and 10 push ups per day. This would take next to no time and be pretty easy. Each week look to get just that little bit better. Imagine where you'd be if you stayed consistent and simply focused on getting a bit better each week.

Tip #2 - Lay your clothes out the night before ๐Ÿ‘Ÿ Seeing your training gear there ready to go acts as a visual reminder. Maybe you want to take it one step further and actually sleep in your exercise gear ready to go in the morning. Sounds extreme but I know some who have tried it.

Tip #3 - Pick something that is fun (or at least tolerable) ๐Ÿ˜ If you enjoy what your do or can at least tolerate it increases the likelihood of sticking with it. If you hate running then it's probably not a good idea to set marathon running as your goal. But maybe you like team sports or group exercise. Stick with that.

Tip #4 - Do it in the morning โ˜€๏ธ While this may sound unappealing if you do it first thing in the morning you run less of a risk of having things crop up to get in the way. Willpower is also like a muscle, it fatigues throughout the day. You're more likely to find things to get in the way at night.

Tip #5 - You can't expect to get the benefits without the effort. Sometimes we might feel unmotivated to workout and in those cases have the discipline to call yourself on your own excuses. Wishing for it doesn't make it happen, only working for it ๐Ÿ’ช
