Ways to boost your metabolism
Eat plenty of protein 🥩🧀🥚 Eating food can increase your metabolism for a couple of hours. This is called the thermic effect of food (TEF). Protein causes the largest rise in TEF. It increases your metabolic rate by 15–30%, compared to 5–10% for carbs and 0–3% for fats
Lift weights 🏋️ Muscle is more metabolically active than fat, and building muscle can help increase your metabolism This means you will burn more calories each day, even at rest
Avoid crash dieting at all cost 🤔 Without going into too much detail when we crash diet what happens is we create too larger a caloric deficit. The problem is while we might be losing weight 'fast' what you might not know is that your body is metabolizing muscle and body fat tissue for energy. The more muscle you metabolize the lower your metabolism becomes. Because muscle in part drives metabolism. This is why more often than not after a crash diet we regain all of the weight lost and generally some more on top of that. Slow and steady wins the race.
Stand more🧍♀️Sitting for a long time burns few calories and is bad for your health. Try to stand up regularly.
Move more 🚶♀️ Moving increases your daily NEAT. Non-exercise activity thermogenesis (NEAT) is the energy expended for everything we do that is not sleeping, eating or sports-like exercise. It ranges from the energy expended walking to work, typing, performing housework etc...
Sleep well 😴😴😴 A lack of sleep can decrease the number of calories you burn, change the way you process sugar and disrupt your appetite-regulating hormones.
