The power of positive self talk

Most of us keep a running conversation in our head. Whether it's random observations, instructions or what is often referred to as self talk.

Self talk is influenced by your subconscious mind, and it reveals your thoughts, beliefs, questions, and ideas. Self talk can be positive or negative and being aware of which you most often lean toward, can help you start making changes about how you take on life’s challenges.

Talking to yourself in a positive way can have a number of benefits

Helps to Reduce Stress

Positive self talk helps you reframe your view of stressful situations, understanding that you will approach challenges with the best of your ability. Tackling these situations with an ‘I can do this' mindset rather than a negative ‘This is too hard’ one helps us problem solve and view situations in a different light.

Boost confidence and resilience

Approaching life with a positive self talk approach can boost your self confidence. Regular positive self talk can help you to feel more confident in the face of achieving your goals, as you instill yourself with the belief that the things you want are achievable, and when problems do arise, you find workarounds.

Helps build relationships

You are probably aware of how it feels to be around someone who is positive and confident. People who use positive self talk are also particularly capable of picking up on the positive qualities of those around them.
