1) You can't lose weight while eating carbs - This is untrue total calories is what matters when trying to lose weight.

2) Carbs cause fat gain - Same as above. Anything in excess causes fat gain. This comes back to our total calorie consumption. There is no one single nutrient that is at fault.

3) All carbs are created equal - This is also untrue. Low GI carbs like sweet potato, brown rice and rolled oats provide much more sustained energy and hunger levels than carbs like white bread, white rice and sugar.

4) Cutting carbs means you'll burn more fat - Again this comes back to calorie intake. If we cut carbs but aren't in a calorie deficit then fat loss doesn't occur.

5) Carbs aren't good for your health - Complex carbs play an essential role in heart health and diabetes. The fiber found in carbs has a positive effect on cholesterol, and helps regulate blood sugar and energy levels throughout the day
